Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Kamala Harris (D. CA) in support of gun control activist, Lucy McBath’s (D. GA-06) congressional campaign:
I am thrilled to endorse my friend Lucy McBath for Congress in Georgia's 6th Congressional District.
Lucy is a fighter. She never planned to be a public figure or pursue political office, but after losing her son Jordan to senseless gun violence in 2012, she rose to the occasion and dedicated her life to standing up for commonsense gun reform.
Lucy is first and foremost motivated by a sense of duty to her community. Following the tragic events in Parkland, she witnessed the unwillingness of some leaders to do anything about it, and knew she needed to step up. That’s what drives her, and that’s why I’m honored to support her.
As you know, Lucy won her primary last month because of small dollar online donations, and is now moving on to next month’s runoff. Can you join me in supporting Lucy by chipping in a grassroots donation?
Lucy’s advocacy doesn’t end there. She’s also a two-time breast cancer survivor who understands the importance of access to affordable healthcare. And at a time when many in Washington seek to cut off basic access to life-saving medical care, it’s important to send committed public servants like Lucy to Congress to fight for us.
We need more people like Lucy who have real-life experience dealing with the issues we face as Americans. I look forward to working with Lucy as we tackle our nation’s biggest problems, including keeping our communities safe from the scourge of gun violence.
Lucy is a fighter -- and we have to have her back.
Will you join me in supporting Lucy with a contribution of $25, $50, $100 or any other amount?
-- U.S. Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA)
