I saw this link from a friend. It appears Ro Khanna has an issue with this letter signed by a number of democrats including Chuck Schumer. He went on Fox News to say its partisan to criticize president Trump over North Korea and that everyone should be rooting for the president to succeed.
You really need to read whole letter but I’ll past an excerpt here.
the way Ro and now the entire media are playing this is as follows just a sample from Defense News
U.S. Senate Democrats are demanding that any agreement President Donald Trump makes to ease sanctions on North Korea be contingent on complete denuclearization and destruction of test sites.
The way I read it is that "Sanctions Relief should be predicated on verifiable steps to denuclearize" rather than, "You get absolutely nothing until everything is gone"
Yes he says that NK should ultimately decnuclearize, but isn't that what Kim and Trump said as well?
There's could be a case for long term leaving nuclear weapons in place because we've gone too far now, but I don't see anyone making that case.
What the letter did do is to lay out some broad thoughtful broad principles such going step by step with concrete actions. It asks for dialog between the executive and legislative branches It does assets congressional authority as a check on the President which is something that has been sorely lacking for the last 500 or so days.
I don't see a my way or the highway here. In fact I don't see anything specifically critical of Trump (not that he doesn’t deserve it) and I'm wondering what passage Ro is talking about when he says that.
Comment from my friend who is somewhat to the left of me.
He calls for not lifting sanctions until there is full denuclearization. You do understand what that means to the people of NK, right? But do pay more attention to Schumer, Pelosi, Brown and the rest of the gang - for what they really are: corrupt to the core and totally out of touch with the public. Even good ol’ Sherrod. We are the brutal force in the world. Obama dropped more bombs than W. And he had two years to get everything passed that a real agent of change would have.
I love her dearly, but man can we avoid shooting ourselves over this?
