Donald Trump is not happy with the reception his empty "deal" with North Korea is getting. Trump thinks he should be getting credit for one of the most amazing acts of diplomacy and international deal-making ever, so the fact that there’s any skepticism at all—let alone people pointing out that the official document Trump and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un signed doesn’t live up to Trump’s claims and that Kim got more out of the meeting than Trump did—is putting him in what the AP describes as “a terrible mood”:
Trump has been calling lawmakers to express enthusiasm for the agreement — but also complaining that he has not had more robust support from GOP lawmakers, said a person with knowledge of the calls, who spoke on condition of anonymity to share internal conversations. While the president calls the summit a “first step,” with more meetings sure to come, he also has been arguing that he has already done more than his predecessor, President Barack Obama.
That’s Trump for you: Congressional Republicans are so loyal to him that they’re bending over backward to find some praise, any praise of his meeting with Kim even though they would have been screaming treason had a Democrat done the same thing. But instead of being grateful, he’s angry they’re not 100 percent ignoring the facts and telling him he’s the best ever.
