He’s at it again… lying, making false accusations and blaming everyone but himself for his miserable performance. That’s the President.
Trump has decided that he will amp up his old ploy of working the refs. Blame someone else, anyone else, for the corruption and misbehavior of his mis-administration. His mantra, play the victim and complain loud and often. He knows he doesn’t need to make sense, have evidence, or be factual. Just be loud and repetitive. And be the victim, always the victim!
We’ve seen this tactic a million times from Little League to the NBA playoffs. The coach who paces the sidelines, yelling at the refs and complaining how unfair they are – followed by the star player who falls down, flops, at the slightest touch. Then the after game presser where the coach yells, screams and whines about how unfair it all is that he is not getting all of the calls.
We know the game… we’ve seen it. Trump blames Comey for being unfair to him, because he “wouldn’t lock her up”. He plays the victim, insisting that no-one should even look at what’s going on with his election and corruption in office, because it’s “so unfair”! He accuses the FBI, the Justice Dept. and the media of being biases, corrupt and just down right not nice to him, and insists they should be investigating someone else, anyone else… his predecessor, his last opponent, even the cops themselves. It’s so unfair. Canada is unfair, Mexico is unfair, all of Europe is unfair!
Of course in this case, we have his co-conspirators, the media, who echo his complaints, even though they know that his veracity is non-exsistant. Right wing Fox News, which echoes and repeats each bogus claim, and joins in the whineing and whinging.
Working the refs. Unfortunately, as the recent Justice Dept. Inspector General’s report shows, it works. Comey bent over backwards trying to make sure that the Republicans weren’t too angry. He tried to mollify the Trump-ets, to the extent of fatally damaging the campaign of Hillary Clinton.
So… what’s to be done?
The “resistance” and the media, and the Democratic Party need to loudly label each sorry attempt. We should start each response with… “In another attempt to work the refs today, the President…” We should point it out loudly and repeatedly every time Trump tries it. Not once, not twice, but every time. And we should name and shame McConnell and Ryan, every time they shrug and walk away, or give some vague response to the administrations misdeeds. Call them out loudly, point and yell, “he flopped, he flopped”. Make them go to the replay.
Get loud! Be persistent! Boo! Stomp your feet! Don’t complain politely. Don’t simply tell your friends. Act like sports fans, yell, scream and let everyone know what they are doing! They’re working the refs… it’s up to us to make that an issue.
Get Loud!
