Set aside for a moment the horrific inhumanity of separating children from their parents at America’s southern border—and then warehousing these children and their parents at separate prison camps.
I know that many of us are also deeply troubled by top representatives of the Trump Administration—Attorney General Jeff Sessions and White House Communications Director Sarah Huckabee Sanders, specifically, plus countless Trump/GOP surrogates—selectively distorting the The Bible (let alone any religious source) as justification for this administration’s policy to rip children from their parents. (Credit to other DKers who have already highlighted this absurdity.)
Separation of Church and State is a principle enshrined by the VERY First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. (Remember The Constitution?— that fuzzy concept continuously raved about by American Conservatives?)
As anyone whose head is not buried in the sand (or up someone else’s backside) recognizes, Conservative concern for upholding The Constitution is exclusive to a delusional bastardization of the Second Amendment. That’s it. Regarding Separation of Church and State, what a ridiculous concept for a “Christian” nation!
Meanwhile, how would any Christian (or any human being) desire to legitimize such a disgusting policy? Might this simplyC be another indication of the fear, greed, entitlement, hypocrisy, dishonesty, and bigotry that has always been American Conservatism?
