Dell Cameron is a journalist who writes about privacy, security and cyber crime for various tech websites and publications. Seeing the stream of news with children in “detention centers,” ripped from their families, Bibles being quoted, hollow assurances being made, led Cameron to tell a painful part of his own story on Twitter this past weekend.
There’s so much more. Cameron goes on to explain that “acting out” is simply a term, there are degrees of “acting out” as anyone who pauses for even a moment to contemplate this, will understand.
We have no idea what the “rules” are and how these ICE detention centers are staffed; but we all can surmise from the leadership of this country, that the “best people” aren’t on the job.
And things are lost as your childhood disappears. People don’t stay children for very long when their childhood is being abused.
Cameron explains that when his father was finally able to regain custody of him, it took months for Cameron to break the terrible habits he had developed inside. Waking up at 5 AM and cleaning his room, sitting on his bed and waiting for siblings or a parent to tell him what he could and could not do. Sounds great for a prisoner or maybe a Marine, but not so great for a 10 year old. One of the most important things about how utterly inhumane all of this is, is that Trump and Sessions and the Republican Party couldn’t give you a single example of “oversight” in this process if it smacked them in the face. And that alone is criminal abuse.
And finally.
