I started lurking here in 2002, joined as soon as it was an option in 2003. I’ve been here for all the heartache and crushing disappointments, all the joyous and victorious times, ALL of it. I saw the knock-down, drag-out primary fights, I saw the flood of activism in the presidential years, I saw the building of a COMMUNITY, one of the most powerful and influential progressive sites on the Web.
But I have NEVER seen this place erupt as it has lately—NEVER! And it’s AWESOME!
I post an action diary every day, listing hundreds of Democrats running for office, along with a multitude of GOTV tactics. I usually only need to post it once.
I’ve had to post it THREE TIMES in the last 24 hours to keep it visible. Astounding. The burst of diaries about the awful situation along our southern border, and the continuous, staggering news about Republican corruption, venality, and lying, has been something to see. And CNN says that when you factor in enthusiasm for voting, the Democratic lead in the generic House vote grows to 15! YEAH!
I love it. As Patton’s character said in the movie, “God help me, I do love it so.” Now let’s keep it going. Let’s find a local Democratic candidate or a House or Senate or gubernatorial candidate, AND GET BEHIND THEM. I humbly offer my effort to facilitate this HERE. And I close this short diary by paraphrasing the late, great Democratic president, Harry S Truman:
We’re going to win this election and make these Republicans like it, don’t you worry about that!
