I was just listening to Trump on Andrea Mitchell, and I’m so angry, I am shaking. I realize that this is a rant, but I am 68 years old, I have been a Democrats since I began voting when I was 21, and I am so sickened by the Trump presidency that it’s making me ill.
Once again, Trump is lying about Democrats’ role in the problem with immigration at our borders, and he’s blaming Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer for all his failings. He’s trying to push through an immigration bill that even Republicans won’t pass.
I can’t link to the press conference, but I have some questions and comments. Is it legal for Trump to use a press conferences to lie about democrats, criticize our House and Senate leaders, and blame the Obama administration for all the border problems?
Trump has politized the presidency in such an amoral and dishonest way that I believe the Democrats should be given air time to rebut everything he says. He is trying to use a crisis he started, and a problem that his administration should address because he is the President as part of his strategy to stop democrats from winning the midterm elections.
If this isn’t illegal, it should be. Since Trump is only president for Republicans—and since he uses every opportunity he can to defame individual democrats and the Democratic Party, then it would seem like we should be able to sue him.
i don’t know anything about the law, but I do know this is wrong. For Trump’s entire presidency—actually during the campaign—he has defamed Hilary Clinton. He has attacked President Obama for years. He has lied about the Democratic Party. He had ridiculed our Senators and House members. He has used his office as a bully pulpit to spew forth hatred.
Other than voting for democrats, isn’t there some way to stop him? Can we use a class action suit to sue him? Can we force the networks to give Democratic leaders equal time to rebut his lies? What can we do?
