Received this e-mail today from Khizr Khan in support of Veteran Court VanOstran’s (D. MO-02) congressional campaign:
I just left St. Louis after spending a great day in Missouri's Second Congressional District. In July of 2016, I gave a speech at the Democratic National Convention. And every day since, my life has not been the same.
Cort and I have many things in common. We are both lawyers who revere the U.S. Constitution. We both believe that we can’t solve our problems by building walls and sowing division. We are both products of the American Dream -- same dream, different circumstances. I am an immigrant from Pakistan who built a better life for myself and my family in the United States. Cort is the son of a single mom from rural Missouri who went to Harvard on a scholarship from the Elks Club.
Cort and I both feel the heavy weight of responsibility that comes with being an American. He knows it is our obligation to stand up when our values are under attack.
Most sincerely,
Khizr Khan
