There is no doubt that Jim Jordan, Mark Meadows (R-NC) and Devin Nunes (R-CA) are betraying our country? They are not serving in the interest of anyone other than Donald Trump. The antics displayed by Jim Jordon today in the Judiciary Hearing was more than disgraceful, it was treasonous. The campaign of the person holding the highest office in our country is suspected of and strongly tied to foreign interference in our elections. It is a crime in betrayal of our country and its sovereignty. It really doesn't get more serious than that. Yet these guys (Jordan, Meadows and Nunes) are acting like somebody is charged with petty theft. In addition to election interference and campaign finance violations, our president is also strongly suspected of laundering Russian money. What is worse is that this president lacks any transparency and is not forthcoming with any personal financial information. He has expressed no desire to exonerate himself by providing helpful information that would do so. He acts like he is guilty. It isn't as if we are dealing with someone that displays honesty and integrity. No, we are in-fact dealing with someone that has displayed dishonesty. An extreme measure of dishonesty. So yes, we may very well have a president that is a criminal. We don't know yet and the aforementioned legislators are trying to make sure that we don't find out, or if we do find-out, they can somehow delegitimize the findings. As is the case with our president, they would prefer that we know nothing that would have a negative impact on the president or the Republican Party. You would think that they don't understand the seriousness of the investigation or the potential charges. That they don't understand the serious nature of the damage that may have been done to our country. They do understand. They know. They just don't care. After all, they have their priorities and our country is not a priority at the top of the list. They seem to have forgotten that they were elected to serve our country, not Donald Trump.
I can appreciate that some folks might feel that maybe treason is a charge that is a little over the top. I don't think so. Here is why:
Donald Trump's supporters have demonstrated that he can do literally anything and they will continue to stand by him. That is certainly their prerogative. His allies in Congress seem to feel the same way, but that isn't their prerogative. Regardless, they have decided that instead of using their constitutional responsibility to act as a check on the President, they want to defend him. Of course they won't tell you that, but it is so obvious that it doesn't need to be said. They are doing it simply, because they can. Who can stop them? Right now, nobody, but that is where obstruction of justice and treason come into the equation. They figure that since they have the right of oversight of the Justice Department, they can use that in their favor to make unethical and unreasonable requests for information. They are aware that Grand Jury information, evidence, and case critical information are always maintained in the strictest of confidence. They know that its release will compromise the integrity of the investigation. They also know that this information should never be handed-over to Congress or anyone else. It is just unprecedented. The reality is, if they are concerned that the President isn't getting a fair shake, they can make that determination upon completion of the investigation, not in the middle of it. They not only have the right, but the duty to take action if the constitutionality of the investigation and/or any charges that result are in question. However, not until it is complete. Now, should there be some evidence of investigator wrongdoing during the investigation, a responsible approach to avoid compromising it, must be taken. That is certainly not the case here. There is no evidence despite the fact that it is obvious that Trumps allies are endeavoring to fabricate it. Again, it is so obvious. The thing is; all of this is just common sense.
So the bottom line is that the sovereignty of our country may have been harmed by an attack on our elections. It is imperative that we seek out the truth. Anyone that would stand in the way or impede an investigation intended to do that is seeking to harm our country. That is a betrayal of our country. By definition; that is treason.
While there may be little that can be done to stop these duplicitous legislators right now, they "must" face charges when this investigation is complete. They need to know that the vast majority of Americans will be expecting them to be behind bars when this is over.
On a different and much sadder note; I wish to extend my condolences to the loved ones of anyone that was lost or injured today in the tragic shooting in Maryland.
I have really worried that the angry vile rhetoric of our President toward the press may eventually result in a tragedy such as this. However, we do not yet know the motive. Regardless, he really needs to stop the rhetoric and advise his supporters that the press is "NOT" the enemy.
