The working Family's party has him listed on their third party line for NY-14.
The head of the WFP and democratic insiders have asked him to drop the third party challenge but he is refusing to do so. He is claiming he’s not actually running but will not allow them to take him off the ballot.

Crowley did not comment on why, as The New York Times reported Thursday, he has refused to vacate the Working Families Party line, meaning he’ll remain on the ballot in November as a third party candidate.
Crowley won the Working Families Party nomination, a minor but powerful third party in the state, but after he lost the Democratic nomination to Ocasio-Cortez, the state director of Working Families Party, Bill Lipton, reportedly reached out to Crowley and asked the congressman to vacate the line. Crowley declined.
He’s claiming that taking him off the ballot is election fraud even though all he would have to do is agree and allow WFP to nominate him for a local seat (probably a unwinnable one).
To Crowley’s credit, as the Times noted, convoluted election laws make vacating the line a complicated process. Legally, the Working Families Party would have to nominate him for another electoral position on the ballot, likely a low-level position elsewhere in the state where Republicans have power, so he’s essentially sure to lose.
According to Lipton, the Working Families Party would like to do just that, but Crowley reportedly won’t let them.
He is outright refusing to allow them to do so therby FORCING his name onto the ballot and running a third party challenge to the democratic party.
And this isn’t a isolated event. Anther centrist, having been beaten by a democratic socialist, is choosing to run a third party challenge and split the vote and spoil an election.
That precarious situation has already manifested elsewhere, in the Montgomery County executive race in Maryland.
Democrat Nancy Floreen launched an independent bid for the seat Wednesday, The Washington Post reported, after a candidate backed by the Democratic Socialists in the area, Marc Elrich, won the Democratic primary. Floreen called Elrich and the Republican nominee Robin Ficker both “flawed extremes” in a statement.
Democrats have held the Montgomery County executive job since 1974, but Floreen’s bid could split the Democratic vote, handing the job to Ficker.
This site is dedicated to “More and Better Democrats” but if we don’t start pushing back on Sore loser centrist third party bids we may end up with just Less democrats.
Feel free to call or email ol’ Joe and let him know that his spoiler antics, win or lose, will be his legacy.

EDIT: TO EVERYONE CLAIMING IM NOT GIVING JOE A FAIR SHAKE.
People want me to post Joe’s response so I am.
The WFP has asked him to allow them to move him off by accepting the nomination for a different lower position.
Joe is arguing that accepting a nom from WFP for a position and not actively running for it is election fraud. Their dosen’t seem to be a problem with accepting a nom and giving it the old college try but hey that’s his choice (a choice i can’t explain)
If accepting a nomination and not actively running for it is election fraud….. than accepting the WFP nom not running for it is the very same ELECTION FRAUD. someone please explain to me why accepting a school board seat and not campaigning is somehow more illegal than doing the same for a House seat. it’s not. The whole argument is non-consistent.
The question is clearly you seem to have to accept nominations from parties to be put on the ballot (as per his expiation or else WFP could just move his nom) so why isn’t he just outright declining the WFP nom. (another choice i can’t explain)
One of the resistance points he’s bringing up is that any other nom would be for a district he dosen’t live in…. but he also dosne’t live in NY-14 so I’m unsure why he wants to be nom’d there by WFP anyway.
point is lots of unexplained stuff going on here.
