Hope this finds everyone reasonably OK considering.
My FP is confusion. Insurance ?? Kind of ‘good news, bad news’ thing. Sorry if this turns into an inarticulate mess.
I turn 65 in about 2 months. Went to the Social Security office a couple of days ago to find out if I am eligible for a little more a month due to my deceased ex (long story short, after 23 yrs married, excaped w/2 barely teenage kids-b/c abuse got real bad, real quick) . Only received a few child support checks during all of those years. Rest of the story is ugly, TMI, really.
Kids are older now- doing really great with their lives, despite all of this.
Lost my last job after about 10 yrs. Work injury, and have been on ssdi for the last several years. Have been eligible for Medicaid, due to an obscure program, and my income was low enough to qualify.
Now I find out (told by the ssi rep) Im eligible for about another 500+ a month (been living off about 1,000 a month). That POS apparently made more than I thought. That is really good news, but my income is raised enough to make me ineligible for this program.
I now have medicaid/medicare for a couple more weeks and need coverage for the ‘gap’ (1 ½ months till I hit 65). Scared to not have insurance for the gap b/c already lost my pension, and had to file bankrupt, years ago b/c medical bills and an irresponsible ex spending habits.
Insurance confuses me, especially these days. Hoping someone here has some insight on how this stuff works, and what my best options are.
I don’t know what to do, or where to turn for advice. BTW I live in Wisconsin where our POS governor didn’t approve the ACA.
