When I first woke up this morning I thought I saw a diary about Russia calling on Mike Pompeo to release Maria Butina. However, I can’t find it and in case it was taken down I am posting a link to USA TODAY report, and the ABC link which I could swear I was reading until nature called.
In an unsurprising move, Russia wants their spy returned.

Ms. Maria has stated she represents a Russian-Right-to-Bear-Arms organization. I couldn’t find such an organization except this little gem, but I did want to provide the rules of gun ownership in Russia. It is a great model. One we could adopt since it limits types of guns and rounds of ammo a private Russian citizen can legally process. Recently new amendments were added:
To obtain a license to purchase weapons, the new amendments require submission of proof of the non-use or possession in the past of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances. (Id.) Additionally, gun owners are required to submit a medical report indicating the absence of medical contraindications that would prohibit weapons possession and to pass a drug test every five years. (Id.) A similar medical report is required to obtain permits to store and use weapons given as awards to military officers. (Id. art. 20-1.) Another amendment requires authorized weapons and ammunition dealers to report all buyers to the local police agency on a monthly basis. (Id. art. 18.)
As I can surmise, the Russians sought to infiltrate American politics by infiltrating the NRA using Butiina as a Russian gun rights advocate. She sought to undermine our government by sleeping with the sleazy Paul Erickson and possibly others. She must not be returned to Russia but stand trial for espionage. PERIOD!
