The Carr fire is now the most destructive fire in Nor CA (in terms of # buildings destroyed) in state history.
Some Kossacks in the area (sorry if I missed some):
Thank you. Half my family is evacuated. Our vet is taking on the Carr fire’s injured animals like crazy.
logicplz
I am in Mount Shasta. Carr is too close for comfort. Terrible fire. I am praying for all concerned and praying for a miracle of heavy rain.

My cousin and her husband have evacuated from their Redding home, currently less than a mile from the edge of the fire on Quartz road to their West, with a flare up on the other side of them, East of Lake Drive.
Their son and his family live in Shasta City.
I almost never post here, but wanted to thank you for the diary. My daughter is a USFS wildland firefighter who arrived on scene with her crew this afternoon. I'm devouring all the news and updates I can find.
My husband and I lived in Redding last year. We still have family in the area. They had to evacuate, but they are all safe.
Donations:
Blood donations are being requested. Although not an immediate additional need, blood banks have had some of their “regulars” cancel due to evacuations and other fire related issues.
CalFire Fallen Firefighter Fund (a second firefighter has died fighting the Ferguson fire near Yosemite. That makes four firefighter deaths in CA wildfires in the past couple of weeks.)
#FeedTheNeed2018CarrFire is a group created on Facebook. Many local restaurants have teamed together to help everyone that has been displaced by the Carr Fire. Every one of the businesses below will be a donation point where locals can donate anything and everything. See their Facebook link HERE.
Haven Humane Society is housing many of the animals displaced by the Carr Fire. They need several items including dog and cat crates, food, water bowls, hay and animal feed. to see more information on how to donate items on their website,

DBAD. Some numnuts on this site are insinuating that the people being burned out of their homes in the Carr fire are somehow deserving of such a horrifying experience because a majority (64.7%=51,778/80,053, out of 102,000 total registered voters) of Shasta Co. voted for *rump in 2016. *rump LOST California by over 4 million votes. Every single one of the approximately 180,000 residents (including children and non-citizens) of Shasta Co. could have voted for drump and he still would have lost California. And the national election results would not have changed.
Almost 900 homes have been destroyed (see below.) Some of the residents forced from those houses/apartments may not have owned them. No breakdown is available as to how/if those fire victims voted.
Here are some residents of Shasta Co. who likely did NOT vote for drump, yet are in the path of the fire. Further, some of these people make their living from the tourism industry in this forested area. Those jobs are now gone or in danger of being lost for some time.
The Shasta-Trinity National Forest has a large, complex Tribal Relations Program that requires support from a variety of Forest Service personnel in order to meet the agency’s government-to-government trust responsibilities to Indian tribes. The forest also maintains relationship with non-federally and state recognized tribes who hold many places on the Forest as sacred and continue to participate in a variety of traditional cultural practices on the forest today. The six federally recognized tribes include the Redding Rancheria, Pit River Tribe, Hoopa Valley Tribe, The Klamath Tribes, Quartz Valley Indian Reservation and the Karuk Tribe. The seven non-federally recognized tribes include Winnemem Wintu, Tsnungwe Tribe, Nor-Rel-Muk Wintu Nation, Wintu Tribe of Northern California and Toyon-Wintu Center, United Tribes of Northern California, The Shasta Tribe Inc., and Shasta Indian Nation.
I will leave it to MB and others knowledgeable about the Native Americans in this part of California to provide more information on those tribes and their history in that area.
The 2010 United States Census reported that Shasta County had a population of 177,223. The racial makeup of Shasta County was 153,726 (86.7%) White, 1,548 (0.9%) African American, 4,950 (2.8%) Native American, 4,391 (2.5%) Asian, 271 (0.2%) Pacific Islander, 4,501 (2.5%) from other races, and 7,836 (4.4%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 14,878 persons (8.4%).[24]

Do progressives on this site really want to ignore the needs of the POC being harmed by this massive fire, as well as those people who did NOT vote for drump, just to give a middle finger to the ones who did? Really?!

At the 7/28 press conference for Carr fire updates, Rep. Doug LaMalfa (teahadist, drump sycophant) was on the “platform” (behind the podium) with the heads of fire and police departments giving updates. Thankfully he did not speak on camera during the news conference.
But at the 7/29 presser he was not on the platform with the first responders. He was completely off camera at opposite side of the room. This interview (video) he gave on KRCR (Sinclair owned), wherein he dissed Forest Service firefighters, may have had something to do with that. Similar Interview he had with KHSL (CBS/NBC). Sorry, no transcript, as CC was not working the entire length of interview.
While there has long been debate about how much forests should be allowed to burn “naturally” or with controlled burns, there’s no debate that Republicans, particularly teaparty types like LaMalfa, have whittled USFS funding to the bone over past decades. USFS can only do so much with such strained resources.
Last night LaBarfa was at a high priced fundraiser in Chico with fellow traitor Devin Nunes. He partied while many of his constituents were stuck at evacuation centers, and others are wondering if they will soon have to evacuate.
Support Democrat Audrey Denney against LaMalfa in CA-01.
