Once again, we learn that Trump, who is such a very very strong and very very honest man, either didn’t have the cojones to fire his boy Scotty Pruitt, or didn’t think Pruitt needed to be fired (Who truly believes Pruitt resigned?) until someone from Fox News told him to do it. So, my question is:
Which Fox News person was responsible for getting Scotty Pruitt fired. Was it Laura Ingraham, who tweeted, “Pruitt is the swamp. Drain it.” Or was it Bill Shine, a former executive from Fox News whom Trump hired as the new White House Deputy Communications Director last Thursday, the same day Pruitt allegedly resigned.
I have to admit that Shine is the perfect person to join Trump’s team. After all, it’s only fitting that Trump, who has been accused by multiple women of sexual harassment, and is known by many to be a racist, would choose a man who resigned from Fox News in 2017, “after he was accused in several lawsuits of covering up or downplaying allegations of workplace sexual harassment and racial discrimination at Fox News.” Clearly, Shine’s skill of subverting the truth is a perfect complement to Trump’s.
Given Shine’s background, maybe he even wrote or had someone else write Scotty’s Pruitt’s resignation letter (below), which blames the press for all of Pruitt’s misdeeds. Independent of what was written by Pruitt or whomever wrote the letter, we all know that it’s a total fabrication. There are currently 13 investigations against Pruitt, including one from the Oklahoma Bar Association. He is also being investigated by the House Oversight Committee, the EPA’s Inspector General, the Government Accountability Office, among others. Independent of the truth, the following narrative is one that Bill Shine either created or fully approves of.
Mr. President, it has been an honor to serve you in the Cabinet as Administrator of the EPA. Truly, your confidence in me has blessed me personally and enabled me to advance your agenda beyond what anyone anticipated at the beginning of your Administration. Your courage, steadfastness and resolute commitment to get results for the American people, both with regard to improved environmental outcomes as well as historical regulatory reform, is in fact occurring at an unprecedented pace and I thank you for the opportunity to serve you and the American people in helping achieve those ends.
That is why it is hard for me to advise you I am stepping down as Administrator of the EPA effective as of July 6. It is extremely difficult for me to cease serving you in this role first because I count it a blessing to be serving you in any capacity, but also, because of the transformative work that is occurring. However, the unrelenting attacks on me personally, my family, are unprecedented and have taken a sizable toll on all of us.
My desire in service to you has always been to bless you as you make important decisions for the American people. I believe you are serving as President today because of God’s providence. I believe that same providence brought me into your service. I pray as I have served you that I have blessed you and enabled you to effectively lead the American people. Thank you again Mr. President for the honor of serving you and I wish you Godspeed in all that you put your hand to.
Your Faithful Friend,
Scott Pruitt
Personally, I think that Trump’s behavior towards Scotty Pruitt needs to be put in perspective. First, Trump continued to praise and employ Pruitt despite all 13 allegations. Second, Trump’s inability to fire anybody face-to-face is a pattern we’ve seen repeated over and over again. He enjoys firing people through tweets (H.R. McMaster and David Shulkin) or he has someone else call the person as he did with Rex Tillerson, and so many others. What that suggests to me once again is that Trump is not only a liar, but a coward.
According to a July 12, 2017 article in the Mercury News, “Donald Trump probably won his shot at the presidency by starring on the reality TV show, The Apprentice, where he expanded his brand as the frank businessman able to make tough decisions by decisively eliminating contestants with his signature catchphrase ‘You’re fired.’”
But, according to former Celebrity Apprentice contestant Clay Aiken, Trump didn’t choose whom to fire, NBC did. “Trump was fed lines and notes by producers through a dummy phone.”
So, once again, we’ve been duped. Our reality show president never had the guts to fire anyone on television, and thus his entire persona as a “businessman who could make tough decisions was a lie. Aiken said, “Trump had no idea what happened to contestants during the week, he just did what he was told to do.”
“Aiken, who himself unsuccessfully ran for congress as a Democrat in North Carolina in 2014, wonders if Trump is leading the country the same way.” What do you think?
