Scary moment tonight as a plane was stolen/hijacked from the Seattle Airport tarmac and eventually crashed after being engaged by an F-15.
"Reported stolen plane from Seattle’s #SeaTac airport has crashed near Chambers Bay Golf Course," Tim Williams, Digital Content Manager CBS News KDKA wroteon Twitter. "Witnesses report F-15s chasing plane then saw smoke, and loud boom."
WATCH:
A senior federal aviation source told ABC News that a ground employee got a hold of an empty Horizon Air Dash-8 -- ATC was in communication with the pilot and was able to vector the pilot away from the city. NORAD scrambled fighters and the aircraft crashed on Ketron Island.
Here are actually audio clips just released by ATC:
Police described the hijacker as a suicidal 29 year old. Smoke and military aircraft could be observed in the area of Ketron Island. A ground stop had been in place as the events unfolded but has since been lifted.
I will update the diary if new or interesting facts roll in.
