I was just reading a story about how a WH speechwriter spoke at a conference of White Supremacists in 2016 and has now resigned/been fired.
A speechwriter for President Donald Trump who attended a conference frequented by white nationalists has left the White House.
CNN's KFile reached out to the White House last week about Darren Beattie,
a policy aide and speechwriter, who was listed as speaking at the 2016 H.L. Mencken Club Conference.
That such a person worked in the WH is no surprise but the part of the story that bothers me is why CNN delayed publishing at the behest of the WH.
The White House, which asked CNN to hold off on the story for several days last week declined to say when Beattie left the White House.
What possible reason could CNN have to acquiesce to the White House’s request? It wasn’t in doubt Beattie spoke at the conference. I can’t think of a benign reason anyone could give for gathering with and speaking to a group that would necessitate hearing “the other side”. By holding on to this story, CNN allowed this guy to quietly sneak out the back door while the administration buries their umpteenth tie to White Nationalists with a self-serving statement:
"Mr. Beattie no longer works at the White House," White House spokesman Hogan Gidley told CNN on Friday night. "We don't comment on personnel matters."
Even after all this administration has done to the media, they still extend “professional courtesy” to those calling them “the enemy of the people”.
I fear they will never wake up.
