Photos in this diary from a few stops along US-101 in Washington while driving from Port Angeles, WA to Astoria, OR during week 2 of the PNW vacation in late June of 2018.
First stop was at the ranger station by Crescent Lake in Olympic NP. That is the start of a trail into the forest to Marymere Falls.
Second stop was at Ruby Beach since it was very accessible from US-101. I skipped a number of the other beaches along here for the sake of time since I had a distance to drive that day.
The large seastack two photos above had a considerable number of birds flying around it. To the south they were down low on the rocks or in the water.
The birds on the north side were flying to and from some high ledges, presumably nesting locations. Below is one of the better of a series of long-range pictures.
