19th amendment Adopted-August 26th 1920; Guaranteeing women the right to vote, is formally adopted into the US Constitution, by proclamation of Secretary of State Bainbridge Colby.
The amendment was the culmination of more than 70 years of struggle by woman suffragists.
Its two sections read simply: “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex” and “Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.”

My Mother; was an 10 year old, Suffragette.
By age 9 or 10, she was working part time, running errands for Seamstresses in Jersey City NJ. Going to New York City; to get skirts pleated, and other related, errands. She had to give her pay to her Mother, to help with the household and her six younger siblings. But she could keep any tips she got.
