Former Balch Springs Officer Roy Oliver was found guilty of murder in the death of 15-year-old Jordan Edwards, a Texas honor student who was shot as he drove away from a house party last year. Oliver shot five times into a car filled with unarmed Black teenage boys.
The incident sparked outrage throughout the country. The Edwards family is upper middle class, and their children are all honor students. Jordan’s brothers were in the vehicle and watched him die.
The jury deliberated two days before reaching a verdict, according to the Dallas Morning News.
