The FBI announced they’ve arrested a 68-year-old California man for threatening to kill employees at The Boston Globe. Robert Chain placed numerous threatening calls to the newspaper. Here’s a transcript of one call, via Tom Winter at NBC News:
You’re the enemy of the people, and we’re going to kill every fucking one of you. Hey, why don’t you call the F, why don’t you call Mueller, maybe he can help you out buddy. Still there faggot? Alright, why, are you going to trace my call? What are you going to do motherfucker? You ain’t gonna do shit. I’m going to shoot you in the fucking head later today, at 4 o’clock. Goodbye.
“You’re the enemy of the people.” Now, where did he hear that from? Donald Trump shamefully spews that line at rallies and on Twitter, even sending it the very same day the FBI announced this arrest.
The U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts issued a statement that sounds like a warning to others who might be thinking of taking violent or deadly action against members of the media.
In June, a Maryland man shot and killed five employees of the Capital Gazette newspaper in Annapolis. If Donald Trump keeps this up, continues to push this deadly lie, it is only a matter of time before tragedy strikes again. The blood will be directly on the hands of Donald Trump and his congressional Republican enablers who refuse to act as the check and balance required by the Constitution.
