Exactly a year ago, Kossack ygdrasl wrote a very important and informative post about Duke University Professor Nancy MacLean’s revelatory history of the Radical Right’s strategy to take down democracy, “Democracy in Chains: The Deep History of the Radical Right’s Stealth Plan for America.” Professor MacLean found the game plan among conservative economist James M. Buchanan’s papers, which MacLean was researching at George Mason University.
It was not what MacLean expected to find; she was researching why Virginia was trying to fund all white schools after Brown vs. the Board of Education, and was interested in Buchanan, who continued to embrace segregation. MacLean’s findings should scare the hell out of us. The Radical Right’s game plan — undertaken and funded by the Koch brothers (are you surprised?) — is working. Beautifully. Ygdrasl explains the plan in some detail last year’s post.
I’m writing this as a follow-up, because MacLean was on “Real Time” with Bill Maher just last week, and warned us that while we were watching the antics of the Orange Clown and his sycophants in the White House, the real action was happening behind the tent. Here's the brief segment. It might be a good idea to read ygdrasl’s piece from last year to give you some background, but even if you don’t, this “Real Time” segment should not be missed. The Koch brothers are a mere six states away from changing our Constitution radically and horribly.
