May the souls of those thousands of people who died in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands haunt Donald Trump forever.
This was my first thought when I watched Donald Trump declare boastfully how successful he was at letting people die in Puerto Rico post Hurricane Maria. My second thought was that this cruel and unfeeling carnival barker currently occupying the White House, playing at being President, needs to suffer the wrath and retribution of the living by losing his ill-gotten gains on election day — an election that Puerto Rican’s on the island cannot vote in. We must be the avenging better angels who initiate a blue wave that will spark the beginning of his end.
Puerto Rico was once again in the headlines and trending on Twitter— for the wrong reasons. Not because of the approaching anniversary of Maria’s devastation of Puerto Rico and the USVI, not because somehow those more than 60,000 island residents still suffering under tarps and living in misery were finally being helped by their government in Washington — but because the cheap grifter who is their President wanted to once again inflate his enormous ego with lies, and more lies.
Those of us from New York City are well aware of the fact that Trump, raised by a racist real estate mogul father had, and has no love for the Puerto Rican community, whose members were banned from renting their real-estate properties. We know this, yet the media ignores it.
From my perspective he deliberately mocked those who died, knowing he would get attention and it would twist a knife into the hearts of those who mourn and will always mourn their loved ones, those ingrate “S*ics” who dared to criticize his efforts and brand them “Trump’s Katrina.”
That vituperative weasel cannot wait to lash out at his perceived enemies — so he took the solemn day of mourning on 9/11 and the approach of hurricane Florence to stick his stiletto in with a smile.
Trump says Puerto Rico response was 'an incredible unsung success' ahead of Hurricane Florence
"I think Puerto Rico was incredibly successful. Puerto Rico was actually our toughest one of all because it is an island," Trump said Tuesday in the Oval Office, noting that boats were deployed to deliver supplies to island residents.
"I actually think it is one of the best jobs that's ever been done with respect to what this is all about," he added.
The response to his bullshit was instantaneous. Twitter erupted.
Just a small sample:
Trump’s weasel Republican lackeys got their digs in at Puerto Rico too
Then we learned this:
I have had candles burning in memory of those who died since last year. I know that the current number being touted is 2, 975 from the government funded report — however most people I know on the island say the numbers are higher. We may never know the truth. We do know that when the media moves on, family and friends will still mourn.
When Trump finally meets his maker (that he claims to believe in), may his soul — if he has one — burn in hell for all eternity.
Cuss words censored. But I’m thinking them.
