I don’t know who coined the term Trumpology. It is illuminating to Google it.
It may have been used first in this article, found somewhat down the page on a Google search.
An Introduction to Trumpology: We need to study Donald Trump with the same precision that European and American Orientalists have studied their Orient” by Prof. Hamid Dabashi which was published in Al Jazeera on May 30, 2016. Excerpt:
It is in that spirit of collegiality that I propose the idea of "Trumpology" as a bona fide subject to be closely studied through an interdisciplinary programme in institutions of higher learning around the world, particularly in countries and cultures at the mercy of US militarism upon which may soon preside Donald Trump himself - the very definition of the condition of Trumposis.
Look at any other maniac who has ruled anywhere else in the world: How many books and learned articles and essays do we have on Genghis Khan, Attila the Hun, Mao Zedong, Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, and ask yourself if we do not need to produce a similar body of work on Donald Trump.
The author is not in the mental health field. He is a Professor of Iranian Studies and Comparative Literature at Columbia University in New York
Trumpology has generally come to refer to the study of what makes Trump a unique personality and why he appeals to so many people. It seems to be a mix of psychology, social psychology, sociology, communications, and political science. I suppose it will end up being researched in interdisciplinary journals and taught in college courses in various departments.
Frist on Google is Trumpology: A Master Class.
Politico Magazine has been publishing stories tagged under Trumpology for some time. Some of the recent ones are ‘He’s Unraveling’: Why Cohen’s Betrayal Terrifies Trump, Trump’s Strange Tweet About Joseph McCarthy, and Donald Trump’s Mommy Issues.
I started my own Daily Kos group which I titled Trumpology: The Psychological Study and Analysis of Donald Trump where I think by now I have about 60 diaries.
The Urban Dictionary is way behind the times. This is their number 1 definition: “ Contrary to the traditional apology or statement of regret for one's actions, the trumpology is where one actually doubles down, steers into the skid, and makes a comment that serves to inflate the original offense.” I can’t tell if this is a reference to Trump or not.
The next two definitions specifically have to do with the president:
2. The cult of Trump. Idiots who believe Trump will
save the day and take them to a
socialists paradise in a
magic bus where jobs are plentiful and idiocy is rewarded.
The videos are all from Maxine Taylor, who bills herself as America's first licensed astrologer. In one of them, she uses the charts to ask if Trump has finally met his match with Omarosa. I won’t answer the question. It’s 28 minutes long. I didn't watch it to get the answer. You will have to watch it yourself if you're curious.
On Facebook, there’s a Chruch of Trumpology. I think it is meant to be satire but I can’t quite tell. Unfortunately, it seems to have more readers that my Daily Kos group since it is above it on Google.
As you can see in my illustration my link is the last on the list.
If you missed it and are interested in Trumpology, check out my most recent diary from yesterday: About a "psychologist" who says Trump may be the most sound-minded president ever which I had to update when I discovered a second psychologist who I wrote about in December 2017. She said, “Trump is a courageous man — a male with testicular fortitude.”
