I ordered euros from my bank, PNC, for a trip to Europe. I like to start with a little cash without stopping in the airport at the ATM. I went to pick them up and I asked to see them. Lo and behold, there were British pounds in the envelope, not euros.
The bank employee said she knew I asked for euros and she had ordered euros. I asked how soon I could get euros and she said 2-3 days. I went home a little ticked off I wasted a trip to the bank.
A little while after my return home, the bank employee calls to inform me that I will not be credited for the price of the pounds until they are returned (to some main place I assume) and she’d have to debit my account again for the euros and she couldn’t order the euros with out payment from me for them.
Let me get this straight - you are charging me again for your bank’s mistake. You have the pounds, I don’t. She said she told them this but thems the rules. She assured me my account would be credited when they received the pounds. I told her that is not the point. Why am I paying for their mistake? Because banks can. Of course I can close our two personal accounts and two business accounts. It will be a huge hassle and I’ll have to talk my husband into doing this.
So I will be futilely calling my senators and rep about this issue. I am out double with nothing to show for it. But I just wanted to exchange a few dollars.
