Here is my two cents on the Kavenaugh pretzel
I don't think that the Dr. Ford, the victim, should testify. This event happened a long time ago, but not to diminish the gravity of the problem, it would be a he said/she said confrontation. No one wins in a rematch hearing like the Hill/Thomas one.
I see the crux of the Kavenaugh confirmation comes down to the integrity of the man. If this would have happened, would he fess up to it? I would ask Kavenaugh, given what we know about the situation, what would he himself expect someone else in this situation to do?
Young people make bad decisions all the time. Given university pranks, drinking games and peer pressure, all reasons, not necessarily good ones, that you people make decisions that in hindsight would not be deemed a good idea, can they be held against someone so many years later? Maybe he would suggest an apology to the victim and asking for forgiveness. And now that this person is a more mature person with a stellar behavioral record in the many years since, ask it not be reason to be held over someone.
My thoughts…
