It is time for a contingency plan if the Republicans in the Senate jam through Kavanaugh's confirmation.
Per Josh Marshall at Talking Points Memo, there do not appear to be any statutes of limitations for assault, rape, attempted rape, and a wide variety of other crimes in the State of Maryland. So, can a criminal complaint be lodged in Maryland against Judge Kavanaugh?
If so, could and would the State of Maryland issue a warrant for his arrest and, if necessary, would Governor Hogan (R-MD) request extradition? If not, that might endanger Hogan's re-election this November if done soon enough.
I'm not sure if Kavanaugh's status as a minor at the time of the alleged crime is a factor.
Perhaps someone who is an expert in criminal law can advise how practical this is.
The site of Judge/Justice Kavanaugh shipped off to a Maryland jail in handcuffs in the back of a police cruiser to stand trial would be interesting.
