I am not a close follower of CNN ...however this article may start my thesis:
www.cnn.com/…
This is just a start for my thoughts…..
What we are doing to our farm animals in CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations) is a major tragedy. Then you add the fact that these poor animals were sentenced to die in the flood in these CAFOs….the tragedy is magnified. Where was the evacuation plan for these animals??!!
Watch Democracy Now for 9-20-18 to really visualize this tragedy. The visuals are about 4 mins in from the beginning.

I can continue now that my tears have ceased.
My ideas and thoughts have been energized by the following documentaries
Food, Inc
An older move that is still relevant today. Gives you the scoop on our industrial food supply and gives you some alternatives to those choices. This movie really launched my investigation and new personal food choices.
Ethos
An older movie that is still relevant today. This movie gave me the basis for a new thinking and approach to my life. This movie provides the bad news from history --as well as-- our current situation…. and then provides some great strategies for hope and for a better future.
I am going to throw out this idea to a community that I really love to write in:
If we are going to be a humane and civilized society….if we are going to provide for a vital and healthy seventh generation…. then we need to eliminate CAFOs and other unsustainable methods of modern agriculture.
We have the intelligence and the means to feed the world without unnatural abuse to our animals and plants. We may not have all the answers and alternative processes at this moment but I know we can get there if we have the collective will to feed the world in a sustainable way.
Those of us --with the knowledge and the money to choose--collectively told the industry that we would not eat High Fructose Corn syrup.
Currently GMOs are being highlighted and have affected various segments of our agriculture excursively using GMO plants.
We need to add farm animals to our fight. Various films and the current pics from Democracy Now tell us enough.
Meat is expensive. In fact most poor people can’t even avoid GMOs and High Fructose Corn Syrup.
First….I am not going to claim any original ideas or knowledge here.
For those that have the means: stop buying industrial meat. We now have many local choices and/or choices from sustainable farms all over the country. Yes, many small farmers are not organic but if we support them now they could move that way eventually. At least you won’t be supporting CAFOS and you will know where you meat is coming from. I now know where the meat in my freezer has come from. I know the wonderful farmers that humanely raised them.
Realistically...I am eating industrial when I eat out. However, I am changing my choices there over time. Again—like supporting small farmers—if restaurants get a demand for sustainable foods on their menus—they will offer sustainable sources over time.
Back to the people who cannot afford healthy/sustainable food choices. …..Here’s my idea: I would like to see an organization that can eventually be national that will subsidize poor people’s access to sustainable food.
I don’t have specific ideas for this movement/organization yet...I am putting it out to you to get us started! Feeding everyone sustain-ably will increase the health of people AND the planet.
A civilized society gives a fair and decent life to all: plants, animals, people.
