Only two Supreme Court nominees have had weaker public support than Brett Kavanaugh—and neither ever made it onto the court. Robert Bork was voted down in the Senate and Harriet Miers withdrew her nomination. Kavanaugh has just 38 percent support in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll, with 39 percent of people saying he shouldn’t be confirmed. People also want Kavanaugh to stop weasel-wording on abortion—59 percent say he should be open about his views.
If Kavanaugh was honest about his abortion views, though, that might be a problem. Support for making abortion access more difficult is down to 30 percent, a 12-point drop since 2005, with support for making access easier up to 21 percent, a 10-point increase since 2005. And a strong plurality—45 percent—think there shouldn’t be changes. Everything in Kavanaugh’s record shows that he will make abortion access much more difficult, and that’s if he doesn’t provide the final vote to overturn Roe v. Wade altogether.
Kavanaugh’s nomination must be stopped.
Every Democratic senator must announce their opposition to Kavanaugh’s confirmation immediately. Use this tool to tell your senators—Democratic and Republican—to oppose this confirmation.
