At the Women for Progress Mississippi event held on August 29th, 2018 in Jackson, Attorney General Jim Hood says about running for Governor: “I’ve made up my mind to do it”. He is waiting for his wife’s okay before officially announcing.
Hood is the only state-wide elected Democrat in Mississippi, and he is relatively popular among voters. He has won four terms as a Democrat. A Mason-Dixon poll from December of 2017 showed his advantage over GOP Lt. Governor Tate Reeves:
Hood has the early advantage. Statewide, 43% of registered voters support Hood, while 37% back Reeves and a very significant 20% are undecided. Hood draws over 80% of Democrats, 14% of Republicans and leads 38%-33% among independent voters. WLBT News, Thursday, December 21st, 2017
