Not that this should be a surprise to anyone pay attention to Trump’s White Nationalist coddling, or his derogatory racism toward people of color — but Trump’s “true views” on the topic are revealed in Woodard’s new book, Fear.
Remember when Trump tried to “clean up” his “violence on both sides” remarks, and he came out with his follow-up denouncement "KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists and other hate groups"? Even at the time, it looked like ‘he was being forced to apologize to the neighbor lady, for trampling her flowers’. Well turns outs ‘he was just kidding’ afterall. That he was being “forced to apologize”. That he really didn’t mean it. Big surprise, right?
As his Charlottesville Correction statement was being heralded as an appeal to sanity, as Trump finally ‘acting presidential’ — Trump was secretly raging behind the scenes that his Charlottesville walk-back was “the biggest fucking mistake he has made” …
[...]
Eventually, Trump agreed, and two days later in a televised speech he denounced racism, the "KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists and other hate groups." Woodward describes how White House aides were relieved, and chief of staff John Kelly encouraged staff to tell the President what a good job he did.
But then Trump turned on the TV.
[...]
Trump exploded at the coverage, Woodward reports. "That was the biggest fucking mistake I've made," the President told Porter. "You never make those concessions. You never apologize. I didn't do anything wrong in the first place. Why look weak?"
Trump continued venting to Porter, Woodward writes. "I can't believe I got forced to do that," he said. "That's the worst speech I've ever given. I'm never going to do anything like that again."
So there’s another open window, on Trump “being Trump”.
Remember when he denounced racism, the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists — he was just kidding!
He was being “forced to apologize” … he really didn’t mean it.
And he has been trying to “get a do-over” on that one, ever since.
How much longer do we have to endure this loathsome wretch of a celebrity-hound bigot?
