Ahhh, you smell that? Smells like Monday. Smells like…. news. Good news.
Not sure how much of it, the pickings are slim this week, but lets see what we get:
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a 2020 presidential contender, said Sunday that he wouldn’t give former President Barack Obama a “grade” on his presidency.
Speaking to ABC News’s “This Week” host Jon Karl, Sanders conceded that Obama gets an “A+” in his book compared to President Trump.
“Barack Obama was a very, very good president,” Sanders said.
“What grade would you give him?” Karl asked.
“I’m not going to give him a grade,” the Vermont senator continued. “Compared to the guy you have in the White House now, I'll give him an A+.”
OH SNAP! They oughta call him Bernie Savage.
Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) said Sunday that special counsel Robert Mueller’s report confirmed for him that President Trump should be impeached, according to CNN.
"I think that this Mueller report, absolutely exhaustive, from one of the most trusted people in this country, now gives Americans, regardless of party, the information they need to make the best decision for this country," O'Rourke, a 2020 presidential contender, told reporters in Iowa on Sunday.
Looks like “Impeach Trump” is becoming a Dem rallying point in 2020.
WASHINGTON — Senator Michael B. Enzi, Republican of Wyoming, said on Saturday that he would not seek re-election at the end of his term, the third Republican senator to do so ahead of the 2020 campaign.
Mr. Enzi, 75, who leads the Senate Budget Committee, has held his seat since 1997, making him the longest-serving Wyoming senator in modern times. Speaking at a news conference in his home state, he said he planned to spend the rest of his tenure focusing on budget overhaul.
Another Republican Senator is abandoning the Trump boat. Could this be a potential 2020 pickup for the Dems?
Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota Democrat, refused Sunday to credit President Trump for the booming economy, insisting that former President Barack Obama deserves a pat on the back after Friday’s jobs report showed the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years.
Meanwhile, in the “news that should be obvious to everyone department.” Senator Klobuchar points out the painfully obvious.
And of course, I always like to end it with a lighter story, so…
Teachers aren’t the only profession being shown some appreciation.
Members of the nation's most-trusted profession – nurses – are, too.
Select restaurants across the nation are showing nurses a little love by offering freebies and discounts for National Nurses Week, which kicks off Monday.
The week goes through May 12, which was the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. Dates of the offers and participation varies by location.
Hey, you know who are awesome? Nurses. If you’re a nurse, go treat yourself this week. You earned it.
That’s all for this week. Make sure to check out the GNR Spotify list, and have a good week.
