Just a quick thought:
1) Trump is alleged to have suborned perjury by Cohen, and Cohen is alleged to have lied under instruction while under oath in front of congress.
2) This gives the GOP an exit door.
3) If and when these allegations are shown to be accurate, the GOP then has the face-saving ability to state: “I can no longer support Trump like I did before, because I was lied to.”
4) Of course we know it’s a dodge… but it certainly does allow for and invite members of the GOP caucus in both House and Senate to support impeachment and conviction — “they were conned by Don the Con”
5) Is that a good thing? I don’t know… but it is an interesting angle, I think.
