There is so much that first-time candidates don’t know when they pull their first petition and begin the journey that may lead to an elected office. There is no handbook or tour guide on this journey, folks. However, there is hope!
My campaign for Tennessee’s State Senator for District 32 (please donate if you can) is my first time as a candidate and started out on shaky ground. With the distance support from 90 for 90 and help from a network of grassroots organizations, my team and I have been able to stabilize and begin to make headway.
Thanks to true grassroots organizations and individual citizens like Tony the Democrat and the volunteers from Postcards to Voters (btw they always need volunteers), Red2Blue, Indivisible, and the Tweet boosts from the various Twitter supporters (don’t sleep on the power of the “ReTweet”)! Their impact has been impressive in a very short period of time. Fundraising becomes easier and name recognition is certainly enhanced.
A special shout out to ZenTrainer for taking time to teach an old “Salty” dog new tricks.
