Billionaire Howard Schultz wants to buy the Presidency because he’s bored with his other toys. He will need a political party to get on the ballot in many states and since his natural constituency is limited to the wealthiest 1% a New Oligarch Party seems appropriate.
Schultz’s platform is thin but quintessentially oligarchical. He is mostly against stuff.
- He opposes universal healthcare like Canada and most of Europe. He believes the poor should only have access to the care they can afford.
- He is against helping people gain college educations. If your parents can’t afford the tuition you are better off flipping burgers.
- And he is really, really, really against taxing billionaires like himself. He says it is “ridiculous” to put a 2% surtax on the super wealthy (Elizabeth Warren) or return to the marginal tax rates the country had from 1936 through 1981. (the AOC plan) You know, the period when the United States grew to become the wealthiest country in the world.
- He wants to cut Social Security and Medicare apparently because all old folk, at least those he knows, are rich and don’t need it.
- He expect to eliminate the deficit while cutting taxes yet again through miracle “growth.” If you remember, that was the Donald Trump plan.
- He plans to eliminate income inequality through, no plan here, he just intends to wish really hard.
Schultz is Donald Trump without the imagination. His campaign slogan, I’m rich so just trust me, is perfect for a New Oligarch Party.
