Okay, excuse my armchair psychoanalysis (yeah, I should stick to Constitutional Law, and yeah, this is probably not an original idea, but bear with me, I’ll be brief and visual for once...)
So, Trump is very visual, and even in the White House he arranges for enormous amounts of “Executive Time” alone with the Internet.
He doesn’t read politics.
He doesn’t read reports, this man doesn’t even have a good grasp of how much BUILDINGS cost.
Now cast your mind back to the days of yore, specifically, to your 2010 / 2011 movie selections.
Remember “MONSTERS”? (Gareth Edwards, Vertigo Films, 2010). The protags trek northward across a “dirty”, “shithole” vision of Mexico, trying to reach the US and safety from the alien invasion.
They make it to the border in the climax of the movie. Remember the ginormous wall they see?
Maybe that’s where Trump got the whole idea.
Certainly other visuals in the movie seem to represent his world view:
After all, the movie’s subtext was white fear of Mexican invasion, not alien invasion, and if the imagination-less idiots of the world have no choice but to imitate art…
I’m just throwing this out there… but please comment!

Well nuts! I just did quick a Duckduckgo search and sure enough, there is at least one article from the Beeb and a video on YT. Oh well, I hope you enjoyed this post anyway!
