So, after six years of a Republican majority in the Senate and Congress (with the last two years having an inflatable clown doll for their President), the Republicans accomplished the following:
- Massive deficit increase/tax cut for the ultra wealthy
- Kidnapping of migrant children and putting them in cages
- Repeal of Net Neutrality
- Rollback of medical insurance for the middle class
- Rollback of food for the most needy
- Destruction of public lands
- Ignoring the plight of Puerto Rico
- Side with Russia because Putin said he didn’t do anything
- Side with Saudi Arabia after they dismembered a journalist because MBS says it wasn’t him
- Passing two partisan Supreme Court justices, one of which is a giant fan of beer and misogyny
- Removal of lifeline telephone/Internet for the nation's neediest
- Making a mockery of America on an international stage
I'm leaving out so much. There's just too much bullshit to cover (but please enlighten in the comments).
In one fucking day of a Democratic House of Representatives, what have they proposed? Hmm, let's see:
- Introduce legislation to force Presidents to produce 10 years' worth of tax returns as a qualification to run
- Kill rules that limited or ignored nonpartisan budget analysis
- Overhaul the ethics and campaign finance rules to limit anonymous donations by making them not-so-anonymous and prevent lobbying for a two year period for outgoing administration members
- Sign a bill that contains measures that the Senate unanimously passed a few weeks ago and send it to the Senate that will reopen the government immediately, fund most of the government through September, and add a month to, let's be real, talk Dotard out of his walled-in mind
So, which side sounds like it's for the people it represents? And which side sounds like its for their donors? Which side sounds like it wants to attempt to start healing from all the damage done in the past two years, and which one sounds like it wants to grift just a little more? Which side is actually trying to do things to alleviate the issues induced by two years of complete mismanagement, and which side is trying to pile more shit on before they are removed?
Yeah, this entire blog entry is a bit tongue-in-cheek, but to see a lot of it all in one place really, really makes it clear which side is of, by, and for the people, and which side is for themselves only, does it not?
