This gets better and better. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the only Republican besides Individual 1 who has the power to do something about the government shutdown, was missing at the bonkers press conference Trump had Friday with other Republican leaders following his meeting with lawmakers.
Trump said that McConnell wasn't present because he was busy "running the Senate," which had actually adjourned for the weekend hours before the presser. But according to McConnell's side of the story, he not only wasn't invited to the press conference, he didn't know even know it was going to happen. But, "of course would have gone if asked," said McConnell aide David Popp.
Here's the thing though, it wasn't a secret. CNN's White House correspondent tweeted about it hours beforehand, well before the meeting started. And the White House pool reporter noted that "a platform is being set up in the Rose Garden and cameras are already present," before the meeting adjourned. McConnell somehow didn't notice that there was a platform set up there?
So who's the bigger liar, McConnell or Trump?
