So the networks caved to Trump (I’m shocked shocked) and while refusing to air an “overtly political” speech of President Obama’s, have chosen to give Trump 8 solid minutes of free propaganda airtime. After he has bullied them into submission like battered wives by calling them fake news and enemy of the people. They need their access even though they get nothing but a steady stream of lies from it.
Now at least some have offered Democrats equal time. They must seize this opportunity and squeeze every last bit of PR out of it. Rather than having someone- regardless of how charismatic they may be — stand up there and drily recite facts (which Republicans do NOT care about) they must think of this as a long- and free- commercial. Literally quickly hire an ad agency to produce one that effectively disputes the lies, shows how this shutdown is Trump’s fault and is harming ALL Americans, and offer better solutions. Put a catchy soundtrack on it if necessary! Then short clips of it can be replayed any time, either on the news, Twitter, YouTube, or paid commercials.
The media environment has drastically changed but Democrats are slow in adapting. Just look at how Elizabeth Watren has already been sabotaged twice by the MSM Bigfooting her message. Trump is 100% a product of the media and plays it to perfection. Democrats MUST learn to adapt- quickly.
