Mr. Scarborough,
I’ve watched you quite regularly for a couple of years. Your show is helping me staying sane during this difficult period where we have in Washington such a corrupt and dangerous administration.
I’ve been impressed by the way you have opened your eyes to the misconduct of your political party. Thank you for your calling out republicans day after day for their lack of spine and their lack of integrity.
HOWEVER,
in the last couple of days, I’ve seen you trying to put Trump around the neck of… the Democratic Party. And it made me pretty mad.
For a second day in a row, you’ve been adamant at recalling that Trump was once a democrat, gave money to democrats like Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, etc….
Well, Mr. Scarborough, ***shame on you*** for using past associations of Trump with the Democratic Party in order to put some distance between Trump and the Republican Party. There is NO WAY that the Democratic Party would have embraced a corrupted clown like Donald Trump as its nominee for the presidency. He would have been laughed off the stage RIGHT AWAY. Because, you see, the Democratic Party has a habit of choosing people of deep intellect, great knowledge, and deep patriotism. And people who, you know, have the bizarre habit of telling truths, not lies.
Donald Trump chose the Republican Party because your party is the only party vulnerable to a know-nothing imbecile, bigot and xenophobe. Sorry but it is the truth.
As for ideas…
Except maybe on trade, Trump’s ideas are perfectly aligned with the republican agenda. Where was the Republican Party BEFORE TRUMP on climate change ? On renewable energy ? Where was the Republican Party before Trump on health care ? Where was the Republican Party before Trump on immigration reform ? on DACA? Where was the Republican Party before Trump on gun safety ? Where was the Republican Party before Trump on tax cuts for the rich?
As for foreign policy, you can argue that Trump’s views differ from those of the Republican Party you used to be part of. But Trump certainly shares the suspicions towards diplomacy. And he must have made your ex-colleagues happy when he got out of the Iran deal and the Paris Accords on Climate Change. Destroying the credibility of the USA.
So NO , JOE, you’re not going to put Donald Trump around OUR neck. The Republican Party has to OWN him.
Now, let’s concentrate the discussion on attitudes and values…
Joe, I’m saying this with as most empathy as I can: when are you going to realize that what you are witnessing with Trump is simply the normal evolution of a party culture that has long been problematic ??
Trump believes all sorts of conspiracy theories. Trump doesn’t tell the truth. Trump spews division.
Well… Joe…
Do you remember 2008 ? Do you remember who was the GOP nominee for the vice-presidency ? Yeah… Sarah Palin, which the republican base absolutely adored… And do you remember 2012 ? Do you remember how Mr. Romney had to put himself into pretzels in order to please “the base” ? Do you remember 2016? Do you remember the horrible debates of the republican primaries ? And please don’t tell yourself that it was so much better before the 2000s. Does the expression “Southern Strategy” ring a bell ?
And I’m still being somewhat charitable. Want to talk about some of the republican crew in Congress in the last ten years or so? Or some of the republicans who won their primaries but were deemed too crazy and lost to democrats? You know the names… and you know that there’s nothing comparable within the democratic ranks…
Joe, you are a good man. In the last couple of years I’ve come to appreciate you and I think your heart is in the right place. But, please, stay honest and don’t play games!! Trump giving money to democrats in the past isn’t important. Reflect on the fact that his taking over the Republican Party has been SO EASY !!! THAT’S THE REAL STORY.
