Look who suddenly took a break from openly abusing his office to remember that he’s also put the lives of hundreds of thousands of young immigrants in limbo for no reason—well, other than his racist, anti-immigrant agenda:
If we weren’t smack in the middle of a constitutional crisis, a man who has declared himself off-limits to congressional authority and oversight suggesting that he’s afraid of a president getting “extraordinary powers” would almost be funny. Almost.
Beyond that, it’s ridiculous that Trump is still suggesting that some “deal” can be cut on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program when he’s the one who has torpedoed more bipartisan deals than you can count on one orange hand. In fact, talk of a deal is silly when it’s House Democrats who have actually already passed legislation putting Dreamers and others with deferred action onto a path to citizenship.
What Trump really wants is the Supreme Court to do his dirty work for him and end this successful and popular program so he can once again use these 700,000 lives as hostages for a stupid wall or unpopular cuts to legal immigration—and he’s not alone in that sick fight, because it’s Mitch McConnell who is refusing to allow a bill to help Dreamers go up for a vote in the Senate.
Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell want to deport Dreamers. Please give $1 to our nominee fund to help Democrats and end McConnell’s career as majority leader.
