Elizabeth Warren just took a beautiful swipe at Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook by running her own false ad in response to Zuckerberg’s refusal to take down Donald Trump’s ad attacking Joe Biden on the Ukraine, an ad which both CNN and NBC refused to air.
“Breaking news: Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook just endorsed Donald Trump for re-election,” her new ad says. “You’re probably shocked, and you might be thinking, ‘how could this be true?’ “
“Well, it’s not.”
Her ad goes on to note that Facebook has given Trump free rein to lie, and unlike other networks who’ve banned the ad, “Facebook just cashes Trump’s checks.”
Wow. Just wow, Elizabeth.
She’s forcing Zuckerberg to either change his policy of let her continue to run her ad trolling him about his policy of anything goes in political ads. Bravo.
Biden’s campaign wrote to Facebook this week protesting its decision to refuse to take down Trump’s ad, saying it has no basis in fact. Facebook wrote back to Biden’s campaign saying:
If a politician seeks to share a viral hoax — like a link to an article or a video or photo, that has been previously debunked, we will demote that content, display related information from fact-checkers, and reject its inclusion in advertisements.
That is different from a politician’s own claim or statement — even if the substance of that claim has been debunked elsewhere. If the claim is made directly by a politician on their Page, in an ad or on their website, it is considered direct speech and ineligible for our third party fact checking program. Vox
Looks like Elizabeth Warren decided to fight back in an unusual way.
This comes after her brilliant and funny response last night during the CNN’s candidate forum on LGBTQ issues. If you haven’t seen it, you must.
As a diarist said yesterday, she’s getting really good at campaigning. She’s shown she’s capable of learning how to campaign and getting better at it. Her slow, steady rise in the polls is … Well, she’s the only candidate in the race who’s shown a slow, steady rise in support month after month.
Listen to the short video below from the LGBTQ forum. It’s better than just reading what she said.
Who knew she was so funny?
Twitter approved.
In another brilliant rebuke of Republicans claiming she was lying about her story about being fired from a teaching job in the 70s solely because she was pregnant — Warren simply asked women on social media to share their own stories of being discriminated against because of pregnancies.
Women responded in droves.
What a fast, easy answer to yet another false claim against her.
And let’s not forget that well-thought-out scheme to try to convince people that Elizabeth Warren is having kinky sex with a 24-year-old Marine and beating him with a chain, to which she replied that she’s been a cougar for a long, long time.
Her fans embraced the idea so well that for a while Cougar2020 was trending on Twitter.
