45 is in free fall and he’s going to take a lot of Republicans down with him. Virginia Republicans who have aligned themselve with Trump — and there are many — are among the first, as Virginia will be voting on its entire general assembly and many local seats this November 5th.
The current chaos in DC is adding to the energy of Virginia Democrats, which was already fairly high, what with the abysmal record of the state’s GOP on gun control and healthcare — two central issues on which the Democratic Party’s values align with those of the majority of Virginians. This Wason Center for Public Policy survey, on the upcoming legislative races (ALL seats in the General Assembly are up for grabs) is certainly cause for optimism; it is analyzed here by WaPo’s Laura Vozzella.
Can we agree, though, to take nothing for granted? No chicken-counting before egg-hatching?
Victory goes to those who show up – and are informed. That’s why having a Democratic sample ballot at every polling place is critical. This expense generally falls to the county committees in Virginia, and it isn’t cheap.
