Biden asked about Syria, says he would not have withdrawn the troops and calls Trump’s statement about ISIS escaping to Europe “the most shameful thing any president has done in modern history.” Says he would be making it clear to Erdogan that he’ll pay a heavy price for what he has done. Says he would protect the 1000 troops with air cover, and move than back in to protect Kurds.
Gabbard says that the slaughter of the Kurds is the fault “of the regime change war we’ve been waging in Syria.” Takes time out to blame the media. Running up those Q-points. Attacks CNN and the NYT for pointing out that she’s a pal to Putin and Assad. Asks for Warren to join her.
Warren says she wants to get out of the Middle East, but we need to do it in a smart way. Instead of blessing Gabbard’s statement, she properly uses this time to list the mistakes Trump has made in Syria.
Buttigieg asked about Syria, takes the time to kick Gabbard, saying that she’s “dead wrong.” Says that the small number of American troops in place were the only thing that was preventing a genocide. Buttigieg doing a really good job here defending deployment … gets big applause.
Gabbard says keeping we’re supplying arms to terrorist groups. keeps up her defense of Assad by saying that everything we’re doing there is “a regime change war.”
Buttigieg underlines the importance of keeping our word to allies. Again, a good job.
