Like many we are over run with medical bills. With generous help from people here and bill juggling (also referred to as robbing Peter to pay Paul) I was able to pay off the original amount from February. At the moment with the new bills we owe $4,365.24. However and this is a big however Reid has surgery on the first to increase blood flow to his remaining leg. On the 11th I have surgery to fix my dislocated and severe arthritic foot. I anticipate that the amount we will owe will probably be at least twice the current amount.
The more I have to deal with the medical institutions the more I am firmly convinced that we need universal health care. To pay for it we can cut the fat out of the military budget. We can fix the tax codes so that those with money and billion dollar businesses pay their fair share of taxes. We can tax the money being put into off shore banks in order to avoid paying taxes.
My health providers insist that I pay for all my remaining amounts after insurance. They will give “terms” but it still has to be paid in full.
Right now I’m really scared. I have severe COPD and that plus anesthetics is very dangerous. If I make it through the surgery okay I will have to deal with the fact that my life expectancy has been lessened because of anesthetic.
