In 1988, the Upper Swan Valley Historical Society was established in Condon, Montana. The goal was to discover, collect, preserve, and interpret materials relating to Montana’s Swan River Valley. Today the Swan Valley Historical Society has displays relating to the area history. On the museum grounds there are a number of historic buildings.
The one-room Smith Creek School was built in 1918 and was used until 1932. This building is a replica of the original structure which was destroyed in 2011.
