So just for a mental exercise let’s assume Trump is removed from office in February or March next year. To be clear, I’m not looking to examine how unlikely this is to happen. Let’s just assume it.
Pence is is President and the administration of the Republican Primary process looks crazy. Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina have already voted for a basically unopposed Trump. Now, Pence, Haley, Romney, Rubio, Cruz, maybe Graham suddenly enter the race. (Also note: that many of the critical 20+ Republicans Senators who turned the jury vote against Trump look like they might be considering their own opportunities to become President in a truncated campaign season).
What happens next?
Question 1: I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but is it possible for an aggrieved newly fired Trump would still run for President? His campaign is super-funded, he is the only prominent candidate on the ballot in all 50 contests.
Question 2: Would the party consider re-scheduling or delaying primaries to reprint the ballots with the new crop of candidates included (& Trump excluded)? Would they need to consider a national runoff type thing, because of the timing?
How would it work?
