The Pootie Peeps and other community diary fans remember jwinIL14 with great fondness for the way in which he always lifted people’s spirits. He always had the perfect funny picture, the perfect quip, the perfect pun. He was so funny and he was a very kind man.
We were all devastated when John Walker (that was his name) suffered a sudden heart attack as he was recovering from major surgery for lung cancer. He passed away the evening of October 28.
You are most welcome to join John’s children, his sister and friends at his memorial service.
Memorial Service for John L. Walker
Saturday, November 9, from 1 to 3 pm, central time
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church
221 W 3rd Street
Dixon, IL 61021
For those of you who cannot be at the service in body, the Pootie Peeps plan to hold an online wake to remember him at that date and time.
John was not a man of worldly means. His children have had to borrow money for his final expenses — the bill from the funeral parlor is $1500 so far and, although they won’t have to pay anything for the church as a meeting place, they have not yet paid for an urn...and there will need to be some refreshments for mourners after the service. If you can reach out to his children with some help, there is a PayPal collection pool at this link.
Funeral fund for John Lane Walker - beloved father and native to Dixon, IL. John passed away late Tuesday evening on October 28th at the age of 60. He was surrounded by his children and family in the moments after his passing. John had a heart of gold, a thumb as green as they come, and was a treasure to those close to him in his local and online communities. He hosted a self-managed annual plant sale, served as a local election judge, and participated in many community-organized events. His children and family are asking for support to help with expenses for his cremation and celebration of life. We greatly appreciate any amount that is given so we can ensure that we are able to give this great man a well deserved final send off.
I also have an address for John’s son, Jason Walker, should you wish to reach out with a note of condolence or a check. Kos mail me for that.
John, our friend, we miss you....
