It wasn’t a week where it was hard to make the case that any one of the Democratic presidential candidates would be a better president than Donald Trump, but “Hey, they didn’t accuse members of Congress of treason for investigating them and publicly call on foreign governments to interfere in the 2020 elections” is a low bar to clear. Our candidates can do better—but is anyone listening this week? Here are some of the week’s highlights for the top 10 Democratic candidates.
Elizabeth Warren released a major labor plan, covering wages, organizing rights, anti-discrimination provisions, and much more.
Julián Castro also released a labor plan, which he dubbed “a fair deal for a more just economy.”
Bernie Sanders had a short week, campaign-wise, but he still managed to release a plan to tax large corporations where the highest-paid executive makes more than 50 times what the lowest-paid worker does. Continuing good thoughts for his recovery.
Cory Booker came out with a child poverty plan that is a big improvement on the “baby bonds” he previously campaigned on. Huge, really.
Kamala Harris is joining striking McDonald’s workers in South Carolina on Saturday, having done the same thing in Iowa in September.
Amy Klobuchar is pressing the USDA to “investigate the economic impact of the 80-plus oil give-away waivers the Administration has granted.”
Joe Biden released a gun violence plan.
Pete Buttigieg offered “Congratulations to the workers of Rockingham County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for voting to unionize and join @SEIU1984!”
Beto O'Rourke is staying firm on his assault weapon buyback stance—and he’s naming names.
Andrew Yang has dedicated, motivated supporters online.
