Call it semantics but every article that talks about Ukraine and China and quid pro quo and then pairs it with Trumps wanted an “investigation”, or Trump wanted to “get to the bottom of”, or Trump wanted someone “to dig for dirt”…..helps Trump. An “investigation” implies the possibility of guilt or exoneration, “get to the bottom of” indicates there is truth yet uncovered, “dig for dirt” assumes the dirt is there, and true. Trump wanted lies, fiction, libel, and slander.
Ukraine would have gotten zero military support for an investigation that found Joe Biden blameless. Zero dollars for confirming the CrowdStrike nonsense was nonsense, not a penny for finding there was no dirt.
Maybe I’m the only one bothered by this, but I know plenty of Trump supporters, and they all see nothing wrong with an investigation and nothing wrong with getting to the bottom of Biden and his son’s activities. I don’t either, actually. I’d love to see a sane and honest investigation conducted by the Ukrainians that informed Trump and the world that his allegations are ridiculous and provably false. That’s not the investigation Trump was blackmailing for, not the investigation that would have released money critical to the Ukrainian defense of their country against Russia, and not the truth that would have set the money free. Trump was insisting on a libel and a fiction that matched his preordained conclusion, and we need to emphasize that every single time this necessary impeachment is discussed.
